ABS-CBN and the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE) shared their valuable knowledge about current trends and developments in the media industry to 1,865 student delegates in the two-day hybrid Pinoy Media Congress 2023.<\/p>\n

Communication students from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao gathered for the two-part event held in-person at Cavite State University and the University of the Philippines Mindanao on April 29 and May 6, respectively. The online platform was hosted by the University of the Philippines Los Ba\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

ABS-CBN Music head Roxy Liquigan shared about championing Filipino music and artists in the Philippines and abroad, while ABS-CBN Music Head for International Marketing and Promo Partnerships Naomi Enriquez talked about the process of launching digital and media partnerships locally and internationally.<\/p>\n

ABS-CBN Film Restoration head Leo Katigbak showed the rigorous procedures that take place during the restoration and explained the need in saving classic Filipino films, while \u201cDirty Linen\u201d head writer Kay Brondial presented the creative process behind the production of the hit Kapamilya series.<\/p>\n

ABS-CBN chief of reporters Jeff Canoy talked about how disaster and crisis reporting evolved in the pandemic and how journalists cover these kinds of stories in the digital era. Meanwhile, communication educators Dr. Rosario Ruby Roan-Cristobal and Val Vestil shared their expertise on science and environmental journalism, respectively.<\/p>\n

Launched in 2005, ABS-CBN\u2019s Pinoy Media Congress has served communication students and educators nationwide with relevant sessions and informative workshops on various fields and topics in media.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope that you have been empowered to become more passionate and woke, always utilizing your talents and voices for the greater good. Because in the end, it is not about the fancy job titles or the opportunities to rub elbows with the most influential. What counts as the real glow up as a media practitioner is when you can inspire people and shed light on issues that matter,\u201d said Kane Errol Choa, ABS-CBN head of corporate communications.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are the future of media and communication. You are the future of PACE. And PMC is one way of making yourself capable and ready for the challenges of the world,\u201d said Mark Lester Chico, PACE president.<\/p>\n

Student delegates also enjoyed special performances from ABS-CBN Music artists Kice So, who serenaded the audience with his latest single \u201cOnly Girl,\u201d Angela Ken, who sang her hit song \u201cAko Naman Muna,\u201d and Maki, who made hearts melt with his performance of \u201cSaan?\u201d Meanwhile, the cast of \u201cTeen Clash\u201d rocked the stage with their performance of \u201cJAM.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Pinoy Media Congress has received Awards of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of the Philippines\u2019 Anvil Awards in 2008 and the International Association of Business Communicators Philippines\u2019 Philippine Quill Awards in 2007.<\/p>\n
