The now 19-year old singer first captured people’s hearts by participating in a popular singing competition show almost a decade ago. Showcasing her vocal prowess, she made an impact and touched people with her cover of \u201cGirl on Fire\u201d by Alicia Keys. She pursued her studies and in 2022, Darlene took another step when she debuted with SBTown\u2019s first girl group, YGIG. She contributed her charismatic stage presence and power vocals with YGIG\u2019s debut single, \u201cShaba Shaba\u201d However, because of health reasons, Darlene had to leave the group to take a rest.<\/p>\n
But this 2024, Darlene is ready to show everyone that this is her now! She is set to carve a new path as officially a solo returning artist with the release of her debut single \u201cDayDream\u201d. Darlene is under the supervision of SBTown\u2019s CEO, Mr. Geong Seong Han, SBTalent Camp\u2019s South Korean trainer, Ms. Adelaide Hong, and is co-managed by Ms. Kathleen Dy-Go of Universal Records.<\/p>\n
“Daydream” narrates a compelling story of conflicting emotions, where doubt and denial intertwine with despicable feelings towards someone special. The song explores the interesting and complex point when someone is experiencing the stages of falling in love, capturing the essence of confusion and the adamant denial of these complicated feelings.<\/p>\n
Darlene said that she\u2019s grateful and honored to work with Korean producers for this bubbly song, which is a reflection of the whirlwind of emotions one goes through when love begins to blossom. It was recorded in South Korea, and has a notable hip-hop vibe with kitsch trap beats and hyperpop guitar chopping that showcases her versatile vocals, melodic prowess, and fresh, lively delivery.<\/p>\n
